Originally based in France, STREAM was founded during
the second half of the eighties by guitarist PETER SCHEITHAUER.
A lauded debut album allowed them top tour with the
likes of FISC, VITORY and JOE SATRIANI. In 1988 STREAM
camped out at the DIETER DIERKS studios in Germany and
started toiling on their second album, but the band
prematurely split early 1989, before completion of the
recordings. Soon afterwards PETER moved to LOS ANGELES
were he hooked up with bass-player DAVE "THE BEAST"
SPITZ and drummer STET HOWLAND. With vocalist DAVID
REECE completing the line-up, PETER started producing
the second album. Due to previous commitments HOWLAND
was unable to make the sessions, and JAY SCHELLEN sat
in on drums. Bassist CHUCK WRIGHT and drummer PAT TORPEY
also contributed to some of the tracks. The eponymous
sophomore effort was glowingly received in France, Germany
and especially Japan.
For the next album PETER recruited ERIC SINGER, BOB
DAISLEY and DAVID GLEN EISLEY. Baptized NOTHING IS SACRED;
the third disc was recorded and mixed by PAT REGAN,
who had previously worked with acts such as KISS, RAINBOW
and DORO. In the meantime STET HOWLAND had returned
to the fold, and bass man MIKE DUDA also took part.
PETER SCHEITHAUER cut a deal with the German based USG
label to release NOTHING IS SACRED in Europe, but nearly
simultaneously with the release of the album, the record
company also went out of business. MAUSOLEUM RECORDS
thought this was too good an album to remain buried,
and offered to do it justice it with a proper release,
adding some bonus tracks from the previous albums along
the way, and renaming it in the process. Thus CHASIN'
THE DRAGON was born, featuring shredding-guitar-meister
PETER SCHEITHAUER and a cast of thousands (...well almost...).
Today PETER describes STREAM as a combination of the
heaviness of the new millennium with 80's melodies and
the creativity of the 70's. Together with STET HOWLAND,
MIKE DUDA, and newcomer vocalist CSABA ZVEKAN - who's
being described as being from the HALFORD-DIO mould
- STREAM are writing in preparation for the recording
of a brand new album, tentatively named METAMORPHOSIS,
to be released towards the tail-end of 2004. In the
meantime they are also rehearsing for a 2004 tour of
Europe in support of CHASING THE DRAGON.
