BIOGRAPHY

One of the pioneering hard rock bands to emerge out of Holland in the 80s, Highway Chile are back on the road, and also unleash ” their brand-new album “Keeper Of The Earth”. The band, now fronted by ex-Helloise vocalist Stan Verbraak, expands their legacy by delivering nothing less than another instant-classic heavy rock album.

Highway Chile was originally formed in 1980 and released several successful albums during the first half of the decade, including: “Storybook Heroes” (1983) and “Fever” (1984). They toured intensively and shared the stage with renowned international acts like Motörhead, Whitesnake, Michael Schenker, Accept and Y&T.

One of Highway Chile’s most devoted fans was the infamous Dutch DJ Alfred Lagarde (†), who would go on to produced the “Storybook Heroes” album for the band.

Together with bands like Picture, Bodine, Vengeance and Vandenberg, Highway Chile was at the absolute top of the Dutch heavy rock scene in the eighties, and also very successful in the rest of Europe.

In 1984 the original Highway Chile line-up fell apart. A few members continued on as Highway Chile for another year, while Ernst van Ee and Ben Blaauw formed the equally successful Helloise. Highway Chile held on for one more year with some new members.

In 2002 Highway Chile reformed and toured all over Holland again, recording the appropriately titled live album "On The Road Again". The record featured the voice of Robert Soeterboek and the guitar wizardry of Attila Szabo, but both musicians were once more replaced in 2003.

The subsequent feedback to the tour was of such encouraging nature that Highway Chile decided to write and record a brand-new studio album.

Guitarist Gert Nijboer and vocalist Stan Verbraak (previously the vocalist with Helloise) were enlisted to and a reincarnated and re-energized version of Highway Chile recorded “Keeper Of The Earth”.
